History rafting.

Rafting
Rafting is a challenging sport that is very dangerous, but it's for people who are still common. But for a Professional Rafter, a danger of even a trip to the river.

Since ancient times when human beings who inhabit this earth more live in areas where there are a lot of water. In the Survival of human always wading rivers to look for food or other material. And the equipment they use are objects that are around them for example, tree trunks tied much as a medium to float. There is also what makes the boat of a large tree trunk which is then hollowed tree trunk. Tribes in Canada have started the development ancient times, and the Carib Indians develop and named Pirogue, while the primitive people used to call Dug Out Canoe. The Maoris of New Zealand to develop Dug Out Canoe mighty to transport their combat troops. While Kwakiuti Indian tribes Daei Vancouver, Canadian decorate their boats with beautiful carvings. Out Bark Canoe is Dug Out Canoe development, which is made of boards Patch by North American Indians. Eskimo create Covered Leather Craft namely boat wrapped in animal skin is impermeable to water.

Finally in the 19th century a scout named John Macgregor develop these vehicles for recreation and water sports. Age continues to grow, people are interested in beauty and environment of the river and continue to develop this activity. This boat is also developing materials to the plastic, aluminum, fiberglass and rubber.

Furthermore, people began to think how to be able to cross the river with a vehicle that can accommodate more passengers and supplies. After World War II ended, a boat belonging to US Navy began to be used to cross the river. However, this boat is designed for ocean waves crashing, not to in the rapids. Whitewater rafting is done by using a round boat called "Basketball Boat" because it looks like a basket. This boat is always filled with water even just by passing through small rapids. Until now, this type of boat was used on the river easily.

In 1950, a much-loved activities start, the quality of the boat was improved. Then began manufactured specifically for rafting boat with a special shape that rose on the front and rear with a stronger material and can transport people and supplies more.

Until 1983, the rafter rapids have no other choice but to draw water out of the boat after passing through the rapids. The rafter rapids often experience a "nightmare" when it should lose the "dipper bucket alias" to draw a boat.

After several kinds of boats attempted, in 1983 the boat can remove the water itself is called "Self Bailey" was produced by Jim Cassady. The key to success of this boat is the floor that given the wind. The air-filled floor will always float on the surface of the water so that the water itself out through the holes around the floor of the boat.

Our country almost composed mostly of water is not surprising that from time immemorial our people are familiar with the river rafting. For example, on the island of Borneo Dayak tribes have long sailed the Mahakam River Kapuas by boat or the Big Dipper, which is also made from hollowed tree trunks, also inland tribes in New Guinea, who live around the river Mamberamo. And other tribes in this archipelago.

While the fast-flowing river rafting activity using a rubber boat in recorded history was when the White Race convening CRB first held by the group mountaineer and facer jungle Wanadri, Bandung, which also has the support of our Navy.

This moment may be regarded as the starting point of the development of rafting in INdonesia. Clubs such as the nature lovers and Mapala Wanadri UI then conducted a series of expeditions. In addition to using rubber boats this activity has also been developed using the kayak and canoe.

International expedition rafting first in the field was conducted by the club Aranyacala Trisakti wading rivers of California, Oregon and Idaho, USA in 1992.

Seeing the rapid growth of this activity in the 90s, and keeping activists began requiring a communication forum for activists rafting in Indonesia. On March 29, 1996, stood Rafting Federation of Indonesia, which was formed by 30 clubs rafting both commercial and amateur. It is a starting point towards the development of a new order in the world rafting Indonesia.

Character river rapids.

Rafting is a translation of the word "fast" in English is part of the river where the water is swift and spread among many stones of various sizes and there is also a reverse flow. Rapid also often interpreted as a rapid water flow / dangerous. There are four main factors that make the water cascade, namely:

Water volume.

The size of the amount of water that passes through a given point of the river in a certain time unit is cfs (cubic feet per second) - cubic feet per second). Knowing the volume of water is very important, when the water volume is high or low, so that we can ascertain whether the current stream navigable or not.

River levels steepness (gradient).

Every river at certain distances have different levels of steepness. Sometimes sharp and otherwise flat. Steepness of the river can be regarded as a rough guide speed and difficulty level flow streams.

Bulge riverbed (Roughhness).

Location stone or bulge at the base of the results of an irregular stream flow turbuleni. The more irregular stone lies at the bottom of the river, the greater the water vortex. The occurrence of a cascade is determined by the shape or layout of rocks or submerged objects.

The width of the cross-sectional narrowing of the river.

Cross section of the river is not the same width. The more narrow cross section of the river, the greater the current. Usually after the constriction will be formed successive waves.

Have to avoid obstacles.

Holes.

The basic shape of the river can result in reverse flow in the river, the reverse flow is not too strong can be a place to maneuver, but a very strong reverse flow it is very dangerous that can reverse the boat.
